It is not exactly blessed in the looks department.
In fact some divers who came across this unusual-looking fish off the Japanese coast have now nicknamed it 'Shrek' because of its bizarre features.
'Shrek' is a type of Asian sheepshead wrasse which are well-known for the odd protrusions on their head and are relatively common in the waters around Japan.
But this particular specimen is so odd-looking that scuba divers who videoed him instantly christened him after the famous animated ogre from the hit films.
He is estimated to be 30 years old and feeds on shellfish and crustaceans on the ocean floor.

Greetings fellow anglers! This site was produced to help alleviate the over abundance of fan photo's I have received over the years, and from Guides throughout the world! You guy's know who you are, the few, the not so proud, and the Nasty, but you still snapped that picture, and now there is no better place to display that Nasty catch but right here on this Fish Nasty 365 site!
I have caught and released more Nasty Fish than I care to admit, and all those photo's will be forthcoming, as soon as I figure out where they are in the bottom of that drawer! So all you guy's who have caught and photographed those Nasty Fish, I urge you to send them in here and let's show the world just how Fish Nasty 365 fish can be.
The only real requirement here is that you own or have the rights to those Nasty pics, and then hey, it's all good. Keep an eye on the water, and your lines tight, but when you catch that Nasty Fish and you don't want your buddies to see it, send it in here and we will proudly display all those Nasty shots.
In the coming months we will be holding a NASTY FISH photo contest with some Nasty shit for you to fish with and hopefully even catch some more Nasty Fish!
Thanks again for choking up those photo's!
